Dual Win 2k OS

Hi all,

I am planning to install two different language versions of Win 2k in my
system.

I'd like to know is there any differences between installing both win 2k
into primary partitions and installing the first in the paimary partition
while the second in a logical drive only.

It seems both ways could work but I'd like to know the differences.

Thanks
Alex

I think I made it a bit too complicated.

To make it simple, I'd like to know what's the advantages in installing both
win2k in their corresponding primary rather having ONLY one primary
partition and let the two manage to boot up.

TIA

If you have a good boot manager, and install W2k in two different
primary partitions, and the BM marks the unbooted partition HIDDEN,
then:
1. There is no chance that the booted OS or any app can inadvertently
reach out and mess up the other system's code, and
2. In the event that either primary partition (or the system in it)
fails, the other is immediately available.

Hi Dan and others here,

Right, you mentioned a good boot manager. How about the default windows boot
manager? I am not sure whether I call it right but what I've tried before is
that I setup a primary partition and install my first win2k while the rest
of the disks are partitioned into logical volumes only. Then I installed my
second win2k into the first logical volume. I didn't intend doing it but by
default there's a boot loader for me to choose among the two win2k OSes. Is
this BM/BL good enough in doing what you said? And what I am curious is that
is that is the dual-primary-partition installation do any better then what I
did before?

Btw, why's it necessary to have the unbotted partition HIDDEN?

Many thanks.

Oh by the way, is "RANISH" a good boot manager?

As long as both versions are the server versions, or...

You install the Server version first, then the Professional version.
