Dual CPU's Spiking

Hi,

I've got a Compaq Proliant DL380 G2 with dual processors.
Of late, when viewed in Task Manager, both CPU's are
spiking ~ 40-80% in unison every several seconds.

I've used Perfmon to check counters regarding the CPU's,
memory, etc., and everything is falling within MS's
recommended specs. This is a small shop (75 users) and
there is virtually no real load from the end users side.

The machine was rebooted over the weekend to no avail.

Your thoughts are appreciated very much.

Thanks,
Gene

Well Gene, you're on the right track with using "Perfmon"
I think that the key to finding out what is spiking your CPU is to create a
log with the Process performance object, and include the "% Processor Time"
counter (make sure to choose all instances to get info from all processes).
You should be able to see with this counter which process(es) are the cause
of your unwanted CPU usage.

Thanks very much, Jason. I was able to isolate the problem
process. That's a tip I won't forget!
