Dual Boot

R

Richard King

I am running XP Home Edition
I had a virus, a ghost program was using 100% cpu cycles.
The only solution seemed to be to re-install XP.
If I installed as an "update" the resulting system still
had the same problem.
So....I installed as a new installation.
However this has left me with 2 bootable operating
systems, ie. when I start my system I get following
message.
Select Operating System to Start
Microsoft Windows XP Home (the new system)
Microsoft Windows XP Home (the old system with
problems)

How do I ger rid of the old Operating System
Please bear in mind I am not XP literate

thanks Richard

Hi

Are you sure you really have two funcions version of the operativesystem on
your harddisk?
Sometimes the old OS is prompt when booting, but there is nothing left of
it.
If oyu just want to get rid of that boot meny you can do like this

Right-click "My computer" and chose properties
Click advanced
Click Startup and Recovery

Then you can choose default operating system, and also choose not to show
the meny.
