Dual Boot Recycle Bin Problem

I dual boot between Windows 98 and Windows 2000 on the same FAT32 partition.
Recycle Bin works fine as long as I don't try to boot Windows 98. After
booting Windows 98 and then booting Windows 2000. The Recycle Bin doesn't
show any files. The icon displays files in the Recycle Bin and the Empty
Recycle Bin selection isn't greyed out. Sometimes Windows Explorer will
crash and be restarted by Windows 2000. After rebooting into Windows 2000. I
select Empty Recycle Bin and all is fine until the next time I boot into
Windows 98. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Installing two operating systems on the same partition is not
recommended. To achieve minimum separation, install them
in different partitions. To achive best separation, use a third-
party boot manager such as XOSL, and install the OSs in
mutually invisible partitions.

When you go into Windows 98 is there a hidden folder called Recycler right off the root? Set to unhide files and folders if you have not done so in Windows 98. Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options... | View

I've determined that Windows 98 removes the info2 file that Windows 2000
creates in the C:\recycled directory. I opened a command prompt window.
Navigated to the C:\recycled directory. Typed attrib -h. I was then able to
see the info2 file. After booting into Windows 98 and opening a command
prompt window. I can see the info2 file in the C:\recycled directory.
Whenever I click on the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop or navigate in
Windows Explorer to the C:\recycled directory or Recycle Bin icon, the info2
file disappears.
I have developed a workaround. I've disabled send deleted files to the
Recycle Bin in Windows 98. I've set Windows Explorer in Windows 98 to not
show hidden files. I've installed Tweak UI in Windows 98 and removed the
Recycle Bin icon from the desktop.
It's either this, or reinstall Windows 2000 on a different partition. I
don't think so. I've spent two weeks loading software and tweaking Windows
2000. When I installed Windows 2000, it told me I could install it on the
same partition with Windows 98 but in a different directory. Go figure.

Yup. With Microsoft Office 2000 installed you get the same prompt when upgrading to Microsoft Office XP. But if you do that you will have a VERY BAD installation of Microsoft Outlook and Word. Go figure...

What you did turning off the Recycle Bin in Windows 98 should have been suffucuent. If it required installing TweakUI in Windows 98 then you have now provided for me the best (and only good) reason I know of for installing it.
