Dry ink Cartridges

Hi,

I own a Lexmark Z42 inkjet printer which after being unused for a couple of
months, has ink cartridges which seem to have dried up?? The cartridges are
new. Is there any way to get these to work or am I out of luck on these. Any
advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

You can try putting a little hot water in a bowl, possibly with a little
Windex or other mild ammonia, and dipping the cartridge in the water.
Then blot the bottom of the cartridge on paper towels. It won't hurt
and it may help. Just press the printing end cartridge against the
paper towel to blot it. If you hold it briefly against the towel you
should see a rectangular ink pattern for each color. If you leave it
longer of course more ink will wick out and the pattern will be more of
a blotch. It looks like a lot of ink coming out, but it isn't really.
Good luck.
