Dropdown Box not an option in Database Results Wizard

Using Frontpage 2003, with the little SQL Service Manager installed.

Im trying to add a dropdown box so I can use the results as the basis for
limiting the records returned. Everything I read on how to do this says:

In step 4 of the wizard, click to select Drop-Down List from the list of
formatting options. Click Next.

In step 4, there is only ONE option: Datagrid: one record per row. I've
tried redoing it, starting a new page, etc, and that's the only option I'm
ever given.

What gives? I have to have it as a dropdown list.

Been messing around with a few things. If I set the database results to 'ASP'
instead of 'ASP.NET' I get the dropdrown list choice but now datagrid is not
among the choices. What gives? I thought everything was suppossed to be done
in .Net now?

..Net is just another option you have available.
