Drop the LOP

Is there any way of preventing the browser from going to that *&^!#*
lop.com search page whenever an incorrect address is typed?

I have run both Ad-Aware and SpyBot and they show a clean system.
Also, my Hosts file looks normal as well.
I've tried adding their URL into my router's block list, however that didn't
help either!

Anyone got a clue?
Thanks,

Hi Dave,

First, scan the system for parasites and remove them. SpyBot S&D searches
your harddisk for Spyware and Adware
http://security.kolla.de/

&

Adaware (similar)
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
(Remember to perform a Webupdate to have the latest definitions installed)

This will remove malware from the PC. Next, reset the Search Engine.

Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and delete the keys below:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Search Bar
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Search Page
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Start Page
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Default_Page_URL
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Default_Search_URL
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search\SearchAssistant
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search\CustomizeSearch
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Search Bar

Click the Search button in the toolbar > Customize > AutoSearch Settings >
Select a provider from the list.
Open Internet Explorer > Tools > Options > Programs > "Reset Web Settings"

try
HijackThis
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip
A general homepage hijackers detector and remover.
Initially based on the article Hijacked!, but expanded with
almost a dozen other checks against hijacker tricks. It is
continually updated to detect and remove new hijacks. It
does not target specific programs/URLs, just the methods
used by hijackers to force you onto their sites. As a
result, false positives are imminent and unless you are
sure what you're doing, you should always consult with
knowledgable folks (e.g. the forums) before deleting anything.
Currently at version 1.96

CoolWebShredder
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip
http://mjc1.com/files/merijn/cwshredder.zip
A small utility for removing CoolWebSearch (aka
CoolWwwSearch, YouFindAll, White-Pages.ws and a dozen other
names). Spybot S&D tends to forget essential parts of the
hijack, so until it updates, you can just this to
completely remove the hijack. Updated to remove the new
variants once they come out.
Currently at version 1.12
