Drop Down list PROBLEM

Fred S *****

Hi folks,

I am helping a friend with I. E. 7 and FireFox (v2.0.0.15) installed on
a WinXP PC. My friend is having a problem where all drop down menus at a
site lists only four out of about ten items.

The site is at his golf club and after logging in he just clicks on
"Golf" and the drop down appears. He goes to the 6th or 7th item to
select tee times.

In his case, the drop down lists four (4) items. It is supposed to list
around 10 items. The tee time item (and others) do NOT appear!

I tried it on my two computers, also at another friends computer and it
works just fine (properly) for all of us USING HIS ID & PW on BOTH IE
and FF. That is, about ten items show on the drop down list as they should.

I have removed ALL cookies, no dice
I have reinstalled FF, no dice
I have removed (made copy) his FF profile and reinstalled FF - NO DICE
I updated JAVA too - no luck

How can this be?

Since it only happens on his computer and not others, and since it
happens with BOTH IE and FF - it's got to be some standard setting in
Windows - I think?

How can IE and FF on his PC (only) display only part of a drop down
list? Is there a setting somewhere doing this?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Still need help on this one.

I've done more troubleshooting and discovered that when I turn
Javascript OFF, then NONE of the dropdown menus work at all. When it is
on, then the partial dropdown shows.

So, Javascript is part of this problem and something is causing a
conflict with Javascript. Keep in mind I've removed Java and then
reinstalled it to the latest version.

Does anyone know what could be in conflict with Javascript?

Thanks, Fred

Hi Laura,

The website is Albany Country Club:

http://www.albanycc.cc/

I can't give you his username and password to show all of the problem
but if you go to the site and hover over "Membership Info" you will get
a dropdown of one item, "Membership Form."

On his PC, only the bottom row of pixels displays below Membership Info
and that is similar to the problem after logging in only in that case
only 4 dropdown items appear when 10 should appear.

Hi Laura,

I agree, the validator shows a slew of HTML violations BUT the site
works for all members, it works for me on two separate PC's, it used to
work on my friend's PC until about a week ago. (last time he used it as
usual)

Despite the validator errors, the dropdowns function on all the other
PCs that we've tried it with.

I still think something is in conflict with Javascript.

Finally found what was causing the problem.

It was the CA Firewall settings. Got some good info from the Mozilla NG
and disabled the FW and the dropdowns all worked properly.

Now I'm in the step by step to determine what needs to be changed, popup
blocker, cookie settings, etc. (all in CA FW)

Thanks to all who took the time to respond.
