Drive Image Files and XP Authentication?

If it is necessary to recover a failed XP OS by restoring a previous
XP Image file of the C: drive , is it necessary to contact MS to have
this restoration of XP re-authenticated ?

In other words will this operation be regarded as a "new" XP install ?

Not if the hardware hasnt changed from when the image was created.
