Have windows xp, PowerPoint 2002 on my lap top.I was
having the "red X" appearing and also some pictures ending
up on wrong slides. After paying my $35 to talk to a
Microsoft rep, I divided my 55 mg file for my presentation
(with many nature pictures) into three with about
15mb,14mb and 14.5 MB. Connected them with hyperlink. As
they suggested, I also deleted all the temp files (6,300
of them). I did notice a huge increase in response time.
BUT, as I have been working on the file to make changes, I
noticed that I still have been getting a few red X's. (Far
fewer than before I divided the files, but, even a few are
of concern.) Now, the rep told me to load pictures using
the "Edit picture special" sequence which I now do, but
most of the hundreds of pictures I have in this one
presentation (which I use often with audiences) were
loaded only with the "insert Picture" step. Could anyone
offer this "non techie" some simple to understand steps or
actions I could do going forward to minimize these red X's
and enhance my system performance. Should I copy the
slides with pictures, and remake each slide using the edit
picture special sequence?
