Calculating the number of people who will use vista.
I extended the drake equation to calculate vista use, thus I called it the
drake-microfox equation.

SEE EQUATION HERE:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/c/5/7/c57fe678db3cb8c47ca58c85bd5d41c2.png

where:
N is the number of intelligent life forms using vista
and
R* is the rate of vista installations in our galaxy
fp is the fraction of those users that leave vista on there new computer
ne is the number of computers that potentially run vista
fl is the fraction of the above that actually install vista
fi is the fraction of the above that actually use vista and do no dual boot
with linux or xp
fc is the fraction of the above that are willing and able to use vista
L is the expected duration that vista remains on the pc

R* = 1000.000/year,
fp = 0.8,
ne = 1,
fl = 0,5,
fi = 0.5,
fc = 0.01,
and L = 5 years.

Put these numbers in a calculater and you find that only 10.000
intelligent*** life forms will use vista in the next 5 years

this proves my theory that vista will be a flop.

***note: true intelligent lifeforms will never use vista

note, I put Ne=1 where in reality it could be something like .8 so that
would leave us with only 8000 vista users

Anyone want to design a coffin DVD case?

I tried the same thing with Linux on the desktop but I keep getting 0 as the
answer.
