dragging one group to another group for items other than categorie

Here's a question for you clever Outlook users:

In Outlook XP, you could sort according to groups, and then drag items from
one group to another. This was very handy for organizing mail by subject.

For example, (when grouped by subject) two "Groups" of items could be
combined by dragging one group into the other. Subsequently, the subject line
of all of the items in the first group are updated to match the subject line
of items in the second group. The result is one group instead of two. If you
have many subjects, this can dramatically reduce the number of subject
groups.

Unfortunately, this cannot be done in Outlook 2003. Now you can only do this
for Categories. Does anyone know how to restore this functionality?

Thanks!!

The function you are describing uses GROUPING not SORTING. They are very
different. http://judygleeson.com/sorting_grouping.aspx Has some more
information.

Have you managed to Group By Subject in 2003? I would use the Group By Box
(it's on the Advanced Toolbar) to Group By Subject and then see if you can
drag items from one Subject Group to another.

I don't have 2003 in front of me, but I know it worked for other fields in
that version.

that was removed/disabled in Outlook 2003. most editable fields will update
when you drag them between groups but not all fields are editable.
