dragging and moving tables in front page

I am using front page 2003 on windows xp and find that when I create a table
either conventional or layout that I cannot move the table from its initial
position. All tables are created left aligned and atttmepts to drag the
table using the mouse don't work. When the table is highlighted tags appear
at the corners and at the center of each side that show pixel size and these
permit the table to be enlarged or shrunk but I do not get the four-headed
arrow that allows me to drag or move the table on the page. Does this
require that I set a setting or property somewhere? It's driving me crazy.
It seems simple and yet for some reason I can't get it to work. Please help!

Thanks, but that didn't work. When I paste the Table gose back to the left
alignment. FP simply will not allow me to move a table horizontally.

Right click inside the table and select table properties.
Then set the alignment in the Layout properties section.

Dragging tables to resize them isn't really recommended, because it has a tendency to add a
height attribute,
which is invalid html.

Tables cannot be moved horizontally, except to centre, or left align
or right align with the left/right page margins.
You can nest the table in a column of a two (or more) column table to
get finer control.
Or use absolute positioning if you understand how AP works in
practice.

Or more directly: HTML tables by themselves can only be left aligned.
If you right click in the table and tweak the alignment properties,
FP will use HTML <div> tags to align the table left, right, or center.
So, you can't drag tables in FP because HTML (what you are generating)
does not support absolute positioning.

You can use CSS and absolute positioning to put tables exactly where
you want them as the other poster noted - but there are implications
in various browsers. The "sure fire" way to position tables is to
(ex.) put in an outer table with two columns which you set to an exact
size, then put the table you want to move around inside the right hand
column of the outer table. Since FP will let you drag column borders
you can drag the column borders of the outer table to adjust where the
inner table ends up sitting.

Be careful which border you are dragging and make sure all tables have
cell (column) pixel sizes that add up to the table size and/or
percentages that add to 100%. It's usually better to tweak the column
size in the HTML code so it all adds up properly.
