drag and drop linked cel

When I drag a cel that is linked to another worksheet, it drops a zero
into my target cel. The information in the cel is text, no numbers.

I linked by doing a paste special.

How do I control the drag and drop feature?

You will get a zero if the source cell contains no data.

One way to get around this is use an IF formula in the target cell.

=IF(Sheet1!A1="","",Sheet1!A1)

Hi,

Yes. Since the cell has link to another worksheet cell it displays
correctly, because the link refers to the abosolute cell reference. But when
you drag the cell, the relative reference of your current worksheet will not
refer to the abosulute reference of your previous worksheet. To try this,
just move the cell in the source worksheet you linked one below and you will
notice that the your current cell displays the linked cell.

Note: You can only copy and special from your source file agin to the target
location.

The formula did not work. Couldn't I just define my source column/
cells to accept the source data instead of the path upon copy/paste or
drop/drag?

How would that happen?
