If you download something off the web and you use IE7 as the browser
do the following. Here's an example

Visit this page: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

1. click on the big green button that says download.

2. a new window comes up that asks do you want to
run or save this file?

3. Click Save. Note another window appears. In the top
box is points to some location on your computer.
This is where the file will get saved. If you want to
save it to another place then change to where you
want to save.

Before starting I suggest you create a new folder and name it
downloads. Example C:\downloads. Then point to that. That way
everything you download off the web gets put there. You should only
need to set it up once. Thereafter Vista will always use it until you
change it again.

One the file is done downloading, go to the download folder or
whatever you named it and double click on the file to launch it.

Check the Downloads folder under c:\User\youraccountname\Downloads

Other places can include your Documents folder or the root of the drive.

When you tell it to download, it then tells you where it's going to
put it (and at the same time gives you the opportunity to change the
location). Accept the default or change it, whichever you prefer, but
make a note of where the file is being saved.
