Downloads freezing

Be gentle with me - I'm a bit of a plonker when it comes to this sort of stuff.

When I try to download files from emails or from the web, they frequently
freeze part of the way through. It doesn't seem to matter the size of the
file and occurs regularly regardless of whether the file is opening from
Outlook or Hotmail. Today I had Norton trying to download new virus
protection remotely and that also failed half way through. Not sure whether
if it's an operating system thing, ISP or something else. I'm using Windows
XP, Bigpond and a Belkin wireless router.

Any tips as to where to start would be appreciated.

I will gently suggest that you have posted your question to the wrong
forum. This newsgroup is for questions pertaining to writing software
using the .NET Framework, not random "why doesn't my computer work?"
questions.
