i have windows messenger and was easy to connect to, but i cant seems to
connect to yahoo messenger or even the games they offer to play. i can

I believe you can add Yahoo users to MSN by adding
<yahoo-username>@yahoo.com now. Though both networks are obsolete at this
point, IETF ratified Jabber as the standard Internet instant messenger,
which is a standard gaining support by a good number of sites including
Livejournal (LJ Talk) and Google (Google Talk).
