Downloading Pictures in IE6

HELP..... When I right click on a pic to "SAVE AS" IE always thinks the
file is a BMP file, even if it is a Tiff, Gif, Jpg. It doesn't seem to be
able to tell what the picture file is. How do I fix this?

Open IE, click tools, options, and delete the temporary internet files.

If that doesn't fix it, go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced and scroll
down to the Security section. Uncheck "Do not save encrypted pages to
disk".

Click Start/Run and type this command to fix the 'Content Type' settings:

regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll
(and/or)
regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll (for WinXP)

Curious. This is one fix I've not seen and, to be honest, didn't know about.
Why (and in all seriousness this is an effort to know) would encypted page
disk caching bugger up saving images??? Just when I think I got the silliest
of IE answers figured out... I did a short search for this and can't find
too much of interest that gives me any details - most searches lead back to
newsgroup postings. Interesting that.

I sure as heck don't know, but it's been reported as a fix.
I've got more faith in the appropriate regsvr32 command.

I have done what both of you said, and it still does the same
thing.....

I just killed almost 6000 spam messages in my inbox for my alternate
address. So, I'm at a loss on this one. However - the general reason for
this has been *until now* to delete your temp files. Are you 100% certain
they're not BMP format? <g> (Okay, so I'm pretty sure you are. Else you'd
have not asked.) What happens if you check your TIF manually? Just an idea
but it's worth a shot. I'm headed to sleep in, well, 1 1/2 hours ago. But
I'm curious now.
