Downloading from secure web sites

I have a client who recently upgraded to Internet Explorer 7, but he
experienced problems accessing a particular government web site that he needs
for his job. He uninstalled IE 7 and went back to IE 6. Now he can access
the government web site, but he can't download from it. I'm pretty sure that
something in Internet Explorer has been corrupted, but I don't know what. He
says that all the settings are correct, so I'm wondering if we need to
reregister a particular file. Since it is a government web site, I assume
that it is a secure site. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks,

Hi Kim,

More information please. What do you mean 'can't download'. Error messages?
What exactly happens when he clicks a download link.
What type of file is he trying to download?
Regards.

Sorry Rob, but I don't have any more details right now. We will be going to
the client's office on Monday. I was simply trying to get a head start, but
I can see where more info will probably be needed. I'll post back once we've
checked the client's system.

HI Kim,

The most likely problem will be from a security setting. Check their
settings - Internet Options>Security tab - Internet Zone.

During the IE7 upgrade on XP machines some of the security settings are
changed to more secure settings and these will remain when reveting back to
IE6.

Regards.

Thanks for your comments Rob. I have turned the issue over to my husband, so
I'm sure he'll figure it out. I appreciate your help.
