Does anyone know of a web site that objectively compares music download
sites? I'm not really looking for reviews but rather would like to contrast
things like quality of the music, licensing differences, etc.

The licensing is pretty much the same wherever you go.
iTunes Music Store: 128Kbps AAC (playable only on iPods)
RealPlayer Music Store: 192Kbps AAC (playable on iPods and hundreds of other
devices)
Napster: 160Kbps WMA (playable on devices that support "Plays For Sure")
Buy.com ~256Kbps WMA (device support unknown)
Urge: too new to tell
