Unfortunately, the Customer Preview Program (CPP) for beta 2 that you
have downloaded is closed. There is no way to obtain a key for Vista
beta 2; wait for Vista RC1 and try again.

This is not Microsoft. It is a volunteer, peer-to-peer user newsgroup
hosted on the MS news servers. You need to contact MS.

There have been lots of questions about lost product keys. Scan this
newsgroup for tips as to why you don't know where yours is.

Actually, he will receive another email when RC1 releases. There will not
be a new enrollment period.

If you signed up for the Vista Beta in the normal way, you would have
navigated through a couple screens and along the way MS would have given you
a product key on the same screen that gave you download instructions. That
same process would have triggered MS to send you an E-Mail that would also
contain your product key.

If on the other hand somebody gave you just the link to download the file,
that bypassed all the steps that would have created your key.

Since the CPP program is officially closed except for the ability to
download the file till July 14, if you don't already have a product key,
you're too late.
Sorry.

He may never have received an email. I have actually discovered that you
can download the Vista Beta 2 iso files with out logging into a
Microsoft passport account nor any registration at all. There for, if
they did not register (most likely case) they would never have received
the first email let alone an invite when RC1 is released.

The Windows Vista CPP Program is Closed, you will need to sign up for either
a MSDN Operating Systems Level Subscription or a Microsoft Tech Net Plus
Level Subscription in order to get your Product Key, just FYI.

Intel Inside

It will work for 14 days without a key, and you could reinstall it every 14
days, so you don't really need one
