Download-Only install of IE6 SP1 not working...

ACT

Hi,

I've been trying to download IE6 SP1 for a Windows 98 PC. The pc only has a
56k modem so I'm using the download-only method to get the appropriate full
version from a faster internet connection.

I've been using the command

"location_of_setup_file\ie6setup.exe" /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E"

documented in the microsoft knowledge base. However when I select the
'Windows 98' option then click next, the program breifly shows a downloading
animation and then exits. When I run the command again it takes me back to
the start of the procedure again and the same thing happens.

I've done this before (maybe not with sp1, but another version of ie) and
it's worked great. I'm executing the command on a windows xp pc.

Anyone any ideas why it's not working?

Thanks,
AC

Why not just find the file on the Windows Update Catalog
site, right click to save as and point it to a folder you
can create on the desktop or elsewhere. After the download
is complete, burn that folder to a CD.

Yes, you can also go to the Internet Explorer homepage
at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.asp

There is link to downloads and to order the CD too,

| I tried the 'Windows Catalog' site
| (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/catalog/) and search for
'internet
| explorer' there, but there were no results. Is this what
you meant when you
| said 'Windows Update Catalog'?
