Double Win XP Pro installation

I just saw a computer with the same Win XP Pro installed twice on the same
disk. The same key number was used during the 2 installations. The
computer's owner made a mistake and re-installed Windows by error.

My question is : what is the best way to remove this second installation of
this Win XP Pro.

If the two installs are in the same disk partition (= drive letter)
then the only way to clean up the mess is to back up all of the
important data to CDs. DVDs, or an external hard drive, locate the
installation CDs for *all* of the needed application programs, and
then reformat the hard drive and start over.

If the two installs are in different partitions on the same hard drive
(for example one is on drive C: and the other is on drive D:) then it
should be safe to reformat the partition that contains the unwanted
extra installation.

Good luck

Thanks Ron,

Unfortunatly, it is installed on the same partition. So he has some work to
do.
