Double Firewall O.K.?

I use ZoneLabs (ZoneAlarm) as my firewall. Does anyone
know if there are any Knowledge Base Articles advising or
not advising activating the new XPSP2 firewall to go hand-
in-hand with the ZoneAlarm firewall? That is, would the
existence of two operating firewalls perhaps be a
detriment due to possible antagonistic effects with each
other instead of being helpful?

Disable XP's firewall. You know Zone Alarm and it's a better program. No
need for two and you will have to go through the Win XP learning curve with
their firewall. Hell, it's a learning curve just to figure out how to
disable it, much less use it!

I use two.
Just add ZA program name to the WFW exception list.

There is only one user on a P?C and the chance of some
packet burp is miniscule.

Yet, you get the early boot up protection from the WFW.
I have had no prolems at all.

With the second 3rd party FW doing all the port setting
and WFW having it's program name in the exception list,
there is no learning curve for WFW.

It blocks everything coming in, except what is excepted
for going out and getting a response, or excepted for
listening within, which would be all in ZA.

WFW is pretty harmless. It doesn't really do a lot of
anything but open and close ports. And if ZA tells it to
do that, then it will.

On the whole it is not recommended to use two firewalls. There is
always a *possibility* they might fight, and anyway there is no point in
doing the same job twice over. Indeed the latest version of ZA turns
the Windows SP2 one off
