dot to doc

Hi,
When I double click a word template (.dot) in explorer it
opens the file in word as a dot not a doc. Why???

On the same document...
a create date field returns a date that is not todays date
or the date shown in properties. Why???

This is because you have the default action for DOT set as New rather than
Open, which is as intended. You can either right click and choose the action
or reset it from Explorer's.

Createdate shows the date the document or template was created. If there is
an anomaly here, what happens if you update the field - select and press F9?
