Hi,
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My problem is when i click start->run.. and type cmd,the dos screen appears
for a split second and then vanishes.I also cannot open regedit or Task
Manager.

I have ran virus checking and no virus has been detected

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Try entering cmd.exe, regedit.exe and taskmgr.exe in the Run
box. If that launches the command prompt, registry editor and
Task Manager respectively then I'd suspect that some sort of
virus left files like cmd.com, regedit.com and taskmgr.com on
your system along with other bogus files. You might want to try
one of the online virus scanners and check to see if your
machine is still infected:

Run both the AntiVirus and the AntiSpyware scan on this site:

Click on the Scan your PC button while holding down the CTRL
key (to override any popup stoppers):

McAfee FreeScan

Good luck

Not a virus then, but worm or Trojan.
Get yourself a free version of Trojan Guard, or the likes, install and run
them.

The following is from a post by Bruce Chambers, I hope he doesn't mind me
pasting it here,

The type of behavior you describe is typical behavior of more than
one virus/worm, the three below being the most common:

W32.Klez
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected]

W32.Yaha
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected]

W32.Spybot.Worm
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.spybot.worm.html

Because many of the newer viruses and worms, such as the Spybot
mentioned above, can disable antivirus applications whose definitions
aren't kept up-to-date, try using one or more of the free on-line
scanners to double-check your system.
