DOS logon to W2K domain

Joe

Hello,

We have recently migrated from a Novell/NT envirinment to
just W2K domain. I have several DOS boxes that used to
logon to a Novell server that now must be reconfigured to
logon to our W2K domain. I don't know to much about DOS
and need help!
These DOS boxes are old Compaq's with ISA 3COM nic cards.
I'm guessing I'll need to change the config.sys and
autoexec.bat somehow.

You can get a DOS network boot disk from
http://www.nu2.nu/bootdisk/network/.

At the same time you should consider changing to Windows. DOS has been
unsupported for many years, and the longer you wait, the greater the risk
that
you will have to convert when it least suits you, with everybody breathing
down
your neck.

Not to mention those long filenames confusing the DOS user.

You may need to change more than just the config files. If you want,
you can remove the Novell client and install the Microsoft client
instead. It can be downloaded freely here:

ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/clients/msclient/dsk3-1.exe
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/clients/msclient/dsk3-2.exe

It is very easy to install and it supports a few 3Com NICs directly,
so you may even get away without adding a separate driver.
