When a game is a DOS game, it could work using compatibility mode:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=292533 or by using the Multiboot
bootdisk from: http://members.ozemail.com.au/~lpcd/downloads.html
and always check at fileplanet.com to see if there's a patch available.

With DOSBOX you can emulate a DOS computer on your XP desktop:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/information.php Or try MS Virtual PC:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/virtualpc/downloads/trial.asp
which allows you to install DOS or to run any operating system inside XP.

If you prefer to explore other advanced methods, here are two excellent
tutorials I've found on the subject: http://www.dosgames.com/xphints.php
and http://home.earthlink.net/~angeldancer27/XpGameList.htm For sound
issues use: http://www.ece.mcgill.ca/~vromas/vdmsound Good Luck! :)

Jimmy I believe alot of us OUTLAWS room who have XP are able to now get the
game installed but now the issue has become more focused on being able to
play Multiplayer at the gameing zone.most people get kicked out of the game
while playing ...id like to discuss with you in more detail about what our
situation is ive gather alot of info on some of the players set ups and
situations on why it kicks them out but we still havent quite figured it
out.We have contacted Lucas Arts but said they wont be able to help right
away but to ask the gaming zone.
I hope this reply doesnt go unanswered because there is alot of people
who would love to play this CLassic game all over again and are very
frustrated with XP kicking them out we have a long list to back this up if
you need asssurance in investing some of your experienced knowledge in
solving our dilema .
Thank you

NibbleNbits> You're playing on an XP box?

NibbleNbits> Did you have to do anything special to get it working?

DTG_Uncle_Grave> no

NibbleNbits> k thx

PS. I noticed you were in the room at the time.
You might want to ask DTG_Uncle_Grave if you see this in time. :)

Hi Rick,

I'm not sure, but since the tech at Lucas Arts seemed willing to help
you get the issue resolved if it wasn't a Zone.com issue, I would try
connecting with other clannies directly through the game without
using the Zone.com interface. That would put the ball in LA's court..

I'll try and get a copy of Outlaws from EBay and test it myself.
In the meantime, other players with the game would be your
best bet to troubleshoot the issue with.

Maybe the LA tech test a directX game with you.
Once it works that way, it should work on Zone.com too.

Maybe the LA tech test a directX game with you.
Once it works that way, it should work on Zone.com too.

Nibbles .......i heard some rumor now that Outlaws is on the List of Classic
games to be removed again ......can you confirm that with me because we have
just gotten several new players in here wanting to play it and that same
issue with being kicked out of xp is a problem and im working on still fixing
or satisfying it to even be playable but with the word of it being on the top
of the list of being removed my focus will change to find out why .Word is
that since outlaws is not Microsoft is owned that it wont support it but yet
this was one of the games MSN gaming zone got its population started off with
.....so i dont know if there even thinking about that but this game is a true
classic and would very much like to see it around since its carried such a
great community of players and not caused MSN big trouble with negative
feedback ......hope you get this soon nibbles please ......
thanks rick

Hi Rick,

I don't see that game listed on this page:
http://zone.msn.com/en/general/article/genarticlecdromnotify.htm
So that is good news for now. :)

Perhaps an email to (e-mail address removed) will get a more
definitive answer about the future plans Zone.com has in store..

Nibbles .......i heard some rumor now that Outlaws is on the List of Classic
games to be removed again ......can you confirm that with me because we have
just gotten several new players in here wanting to play it and that same
issue with being kicked out of xp is a problem and im working on still fixing
or satisfying it to even be playable but with the word of it being on the top
of the list of being removed my focus will change to find out why .Word is
that since outlaws is not Microsoft is owned that it wont support it but yet
this was one of the games MSN gaming zone got its population started off with
....so i dont know if there even thinking about that but this game is a true
classic and would very much like to see it around since its carried such a
great community of players and not caused MSN big trouble with negative
feedback ......hope you get this soon nibbles please ......
thanks rick
