Dos Driver for a USB Flash ("Thumb") Drive

Hi,

It is easy to make a Dos 7.1 bootable CD rom that works on Windows XP and
Windows 7. Included with the Dos boot files and it's OS, I would like to add
a USB port driver and a driver for a USB flash ("thumb") drive.

Does anyone know if such (Dos) drivers exists and where they can be
downloaded?

Thank You in Advance, John

DOS support for USB flash drives is, normally, handled by the BIOS
*if* a USB flash drive is plugged in while the machine is booted and
in DOS.

I've never spent the time to get them working but you might look at
the DOSUSB driver - www.dosusb.net

I've always just used a bootable USB drive that boots to DOS and let
the BIOS handle the USB drive. Lots more convenient for my personal
usage to carry around the USB drive and not have to carry around a CD.

YMMV

The [pure] DOS driver for both USB pen [flash] drives AND for USB CD-ROMs
was always the one that contained the file: [DI1000DD.SYS]...

However, I have been unable to re-locate the driver for download on the
internet - thus, I have posted the ZIP archive (containing the driver
and instructions for use) for public access here :

USBDOS.ZIP (Containing [DI1000DD.SYS] ) (24.9Kb)

Addonics makes USB peripherals and for some reason, I found mention of the driver here.

http://www.addonics.com/support/faqs/windows_OS_installation.asp

I had to use the archive to get a copy.

Now, what's interesting, is if I use a hex editor on di1000dd.sys
I can find

DI1000 ASPI DISK Driver Ver 2.00
Copyright (C) 2001 NOVAC Co., Ltd

Now, whether they added the string themselves (hacked), or it really
is their driver, who's to say. If the package was signed, you might
be able to verify how hacked it is.

It seems this company makes some kind of USB enclosure, and this
driver was intended for usage with it. And the link on this page
works (so no archive needed).
