I have a dos application that I've been using for 20 yrs and would
like to run on my XP machine. When I do, I get a "stack overflow"
message in the console. I've used it on several evolutions of windows
and not had this problem before.
I've tried running it in a console window using cmd.exe and
command.com and direct from windows with a tweeked pif. All produce
the same result.
Is there a way to increase the stack space in 'cmd.exe' or
'command.com' to solve this problem? Seems strange if there wasn't.
It's a small program but does a lot of memory allocation and, written
in C, uses a lot of functions calls (stack depth).
There is nothing on this in Help&Support or in Microsoft's Knowledge
Base. I've already searched there web site for help.
Anyone had this problem or have a solution?
If you don't use XP and console window functions, do us all a favor
and don't bother relying. i.e. if you don't know what you are talking
about, S.H.U.T T.H.E. F.U.*.*. U.P.!!!!
