Don't Open Attachments Inline?

L

Larry Ostroff

Is there any way to prevent Outlook Express from automatically opening
attachments inline? I'd like to see only the text of the message body with
an icon for the attachment that I can click on If I want to view the
attachment. If I elect to view all my mail in plain text, I'll lose stuff
like bold, italic, etc. If I just block all attachments I'll get error
messages. There's got to be another way, right?

next to it in the message list.]]

I honestly appreciate your help, Wesley, but you didn't answer the question
I asked. Even if I save an attachment to the desktop, it will still open
inline when I open the message body.

I have OE setup to read all messages in plain text. Sometimes
the attachment is inserted, not attached and there you are.

They don't so you need to prove what you say. OE does show attached pictures at the bottom of a post.

That's because there is no such thing as an inline attachment. You either have attachments or you have inline. If inline must be a html post as text can't have inline anything.

Hey guys, I wasn't looking to start any fights. I was the one who used the
term 'inline' and I know what it means. Sheesh.

If Outlook Express is set to read HTML e-mail and someone sends you an email
with an attached picture, when you open the message body, you see the
picture in the body of the e-mail. That's "inline" - or at least that's what
it was called in the Netscape browser I used in the old days. I don't want
the picture to open in the message body.

If you set OE to read email in plain text, you also lose bolding, italics
and similar types of formatting.

Look, if it can't be done, it can't be done. Let's give it a rest.

Larry Ostroff

That's because there is no such thing as an inline attachment. You either
