I'm trying to "see" another computer on a windows xp "home" computer,
(workgroup 'mshome') with another computer that is windows xp pro that's a
member of a domain (work). I want to be able to share the printer. How can I
get the Home addition to see the professional addition??

Better to put the shared printer on the home/workgroup PC and share it
there - then access it on the XP Pro machine.

If you can ping the home PC from the Pro PC by IP address and by name, you
can map a drive to a share & pass along the correct credentials, which will
be cached & allow you to access other shares such as printers for the
duration of the login session.

One way, in a command line:

net use x: \\computer\share /user:computer\username

Enter the password when prompted. Computer=home PC, username=username on
that PC.

Or get a print server device that allows this printer to just be on the
network, and create a standard TCP/IP port on each workstation to print to
it. Use a static IP on the print server if at all possible.

You can not see the domain using XP Home---But you can map to the XP Pro
computer using connect using different user name,
1. Right click on "my computer" and then Map network drive:
2. Select a Drive letter:
3. The path of course will be the computer name\"local disk drive"$ where
the "local disk drive"= c$ or what ever drive you are trying to connect to
that is shared.
4. Select "different user name"
5.Type in your domain\ user name as the user and your domain password.

But remember that you must have file and printers service enabled in the
networking on the XP machine. If any firewalls are up, you may not be able
to connect.

That should
