Domain upgrade/network interface drivers

Hello,

I'm going to upgrade our NT 4 domain to Windows 2000 AD today.

The PDC I will upgrade has an integrated Intel Pro/1000 XT Server Adapter
nic installed and I think that Windows 2000 does not include driver for it?

Will the upgrade process ask for a suitable driver during the upgrade
process? I think that the server needs a working network adapter during the
upgrade and dcpromo processes?

Should I install temporarily an adapter that has drivers included in the OS
before I begin the process?

Hello,
As you complete the GUI-mode portion of the upgrade, PnP hardware will be
detected and installed, and you'll be prompted for the appropriate driver at
that point.

As with any major change on a production machine, you should perform a Full
/ System State backup prior to beginning the upgrade.

Well. Made the upgrade. Dcpromo started and after it had waited about five
minutes connection to dns server I canceled the dns installation process and
right clicked "My Network Places" and there was no connections at all ;)

The upgrade process had found the ethernet adapter but never asked a driver
for it.

However, it seems that I have a very well working mixed mode domain. I just
had to install the correct drivers manually and also set up dns manually.

Thanks for the help.
