Domain Profile remade at login

I have had several users that have had their domain profile remade, when they
log in. There previous profile is still there, it's as if they are logging
on for the first time. It creates the new profile with the domain name
appended to the end of their login. I am running a 2003 server domain and
there was nothing in the security logs to indicate a problem. Any insight
would be greatly appreciated.

This might be normal if the user changed from workgroup to domain logon or
if the domain changed or the DC was rebuilt.
