domain migration

We're trying to come up with a simple method of migrating users profiles from
one domain to another. We've tried a registry hack so that the new profile
looks at the old profile for settings, but we've discovered that we have to
give the user admin rights for their desktop to be the same and for their
applications to work correctly. Does anyone have a method they are using
with success without giving the user admin rights?

Yes, we've tried that as well as a registry hack. The USMT process takes
about 2 hours while the registry hack takes about 30 minutes. The problem
with the registry hack is that we have to grant the user admin rights, which
is not in our policy to do, so their desktop settings and applications work
as before. I'll read up on USMT some more and see if we can shorten that
process. Thanks for your reply.
