Searching for information on how to migrate a NT 4.0
domain to a new W2K domain without switching to native
mode.

Planned to use the migration tool for this, but an message
appears that the target server must be in native mode.

any suggestions ?

Jan,

If you wish to use ADMT to do the migration the target domain has to be in
Native mode.
Your alternatives are third party tools.
However for a successful migration you usually want to be able to migrate
SID History; this required the target domain to be in native mode.

Jan,

As Mike suggested, if you are going to use Movetree ( not really available
for this sort of migration - just wanted to include it as these are the two
major 'migration' tools from MS ) or ADMT v2.0 then the destination domain
( your WIN2000 Domain ) must be in Native Mode.

There may be some third party tools that can do this without the destination
domain being in Native Mode....but I do not know any.

If you are not interested in maintaining things ( as Mike suggested ) then
you might want to look into either addusers or ldifde or csvde to help
create the existing users / groups in some sort of file format to be used to
import them into your new WIN2000 environment.

HTH,

Cary
