When I type "connect.microsoft.com" into NetworkSolutions' 'WHOIS'--- I am
NOT getting a return on that domain.

Have I, thus far, given my name, address & phone # to a 'troller'?

The FLAG here is that this 'invitation' was sent to an ADDRESS already on
file with Microsoft OneCare Beta as I am, since 10/2005 a "OneCare Beta
Tester". I was responding due to the word "Perpetual" used in this
invitation.

connect.microsoft.com is not a domain, thus it is not registered through
internic. It is created by microsoft as a subdomain of their main domain.
Subdomains will not show up in whois.

A lookup at www.dnsstuff.com through whois confirms:

131.107.1.101 is registered to Microsoft.
157.54.59.177 is registered to Microsoft.

That's a valid MS address for the Windows OneCare Perpetual Beta. It's
different than the one you're in now.
