domain and workgroup problem

I have a small network that I have run sucessfully as a workgroup. I wanted
to switch over to a domain - I set the first PC (all running Windows XP Pro)
up and it all worked beautifully. However when I set the 2nd up ( happens to
be my PC with full ADministrator rights) I keep getting a message about
being logged on already. I set up a new user and logged back in to the
workgroup under that name with the same result when trying to change to a
domain. I can see the domain name and browse the computers logged in. I can
also see the workgroup and browse them as well. Would it be the firewall on
my PC preventing access. I have checked users on server etc.

More info. What OS is the DC (domain controller) running?, e.g., NT Server,
2K Server, 2K3 Sever. You need to be using domain admin credentials to join
the domain - this account is different from the local admin account on any
particular client machine.
