Does Whidbey ASP.NET which shouldnt require IIS, be able to run on NT

When Whidbey is released, will I be able to use ASP.NET on an NT server?
I heard rumours that it doesnt require IIS and there may be a module for
Apache to run ASP.NET

I wish microsoft had supported NT in the first place!

Unless anyone knows how to get IIS 5 onto NT?

Not sure whether Whidbey will run on NT or not, but you are correct that you
can create and run ASP.NET applications without a web server installed (IIS,
or otherwise). This certainly gives a possibility for NT, but there is more
to running properly on NT than simply getting rid of the web server.

I have not paid attention to a module for Apache, but it certainly is a
possibility. The key would be to add the handler to Apache, much like the
HTTP Handlers in IIS.

Unfortunately, it is the law of diminishing returns on this one. Every week,
there are fewer and fewer NT shops, so putting a huge amount of effort into
NT does not gain much. In the original beta NT was "supported," but there
were just too many changes from NT 4 to Win 2k. Eventually, a decision had
to be made. I think Microsoft made the right decision to release rather than
wait for NT support, but people on NT would undoubtably disagree with me.

No!
