Does someone know DefWatch.exe of Symantec AntiVirus Corp Edition ?

F

Full Name

Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition v9.xx

What is the main purpose of these file DefWatch.exe ?

I would like only manual scan. So I unload the services.
RTVscan.exe
VPtray.exe

but DefWatch.exe is still runing every boot.

If I want LiveUpdate in background I need to load services
RTVscan.exe VPtray.exe , right ?

Someone, maybe you, downloaded and installed the Deepsight program to
provide summary reports of viral activity on your computer to provide an
analysis and historical record of infections on your computer. The
report is e-mailed to you although you can also login in to the web site
to review the report (useful when you want to review reports for a
computer other than the one you are using at the moment). Besides
providing you with summary data, they use the info to compile statistics
on viruses. See:

http://analyzer.symantec.com/downloadnis.asp
https://analyzer.symantec.com/default.asp

I assume if it install then it uninstalls. Have you yet checked the
Add/Remove Programs list to see if it is there so you can uninstall it?
Have you checked the FAQ at http://analyzer.symantec.com/FAQ.asp to
follow their uninstall instructions?

If you are using the Corporate version of NAV then presumably you are
using a host in a corporate environment and network. Your uninstalling
or disabling of this monitoring tool may violate policies of your IT/IS
department. They may have it installed - and running - to provide them
with statistics and warnings on infections that get past their virus
firewall/proxy to infect their hosts within their company. Contact them
to find out if you are required to leave this tool enabled and running.
It wasn't installed without a reason and if it is a work host then you
don't get to decide whether this monitor runs or not. If they installed
it then you are not supposed to touch it. If you installed it then you
already know what it is, but that is unlikely since you asking what it
is?
