Does ASUS DVD-E616 not support DVD+R format?!!!

Hi,

Does ASUS DVD-E616 support DVD+R format or not?! Anybody who has this
drive can please clarify this?!

In the specs of the Asus DVD-E616 you can find here:
http://www.asus.com.tw/optical/dvd-e616/overview.htm they say: "Full
Playability: accessing all format DVD-ROM/R/RW, DVD+RW and CD-ROM/R/RW
discs"

It seems like it supports all formats, but if you read the above again
you will see they don't mention support for DVD+R (only DVD+RW). Is this
a typing error or does this drive not support DVD+R. Somebody told me
that with DVD devices you have to check very carefull in the specs if it
really supports all the formats and not to assume anything if it's not
in the specs, so therefore I would like to know if anybody who has this
drive can confirm if this drive really doesn't support DVD+R or if they
forgot to mention it?!

I also found out that the black version of the drive, the DVD-E616P1
does mention DVD+R support, but strange enough it has different specs
like it has apparently only 256kb buffer instead of 512kb that the E616
has. Is the DVD-E616P1 perhaps a different drive (I thought it was
simply the black edition of the same drive)?!

Anybody could please clarify this about the E616 and E616P1 models cause
the specs are really confusing me, cause in a general table they mention
that the "E616 family" has 512kb, which is different from the E616P1
specs?! I can't follow it anymore! Here are the specs of the E616P1 by
the way so you can for yourself:
http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=DVD-E616P1&langs=01

Also, they don't mention the E616 anymore on most Asus websites, only
the black E616P1. Why is that?! Is the E616 perhaps an older model they
don't make anymore and doesn't support all formats or is it the exact
same drive as the E616P1, except for the difference in color?

Final important question: isn't it better for a DVD-ROM drive if it has
512 buffer size instead of 256kb if you play DivX movies etc.. from
DVDs?!!!

Thanks in advance for all good feedback!

Mike.
