I know there was one prior to 2006 but i did not do it because i was a bit
confused over it. anyone know if it will be offereed again before March
2007. the one that was offered was kinda not clear and MS had said there
was going to be a critical update to that update.

I am in the usa- do i need to do this update kb929120 or is there going to
be another update for this before March 2007?
It says this update has a problem wtih Outlook 2003 and it was not in the
critical list- it was in the software list only

Robin. It would help those of us using a web based viewer, if you would keep
your subject line shorter. It`s sooooo long, can`t read everything you have
written !

Bitman I saw this-

The Windows XP SP2 and Windows Server 2003 updates are available for
production deployment for all customers through the Microsoft Download
Center and Knowledge Base article 928388. The update will be available via
Windows Update, and WSUS on December 12, 2006. While this update is being
offered as optional now, once Outlook and Exchange tools are completed so
that all updates and tools can be run at the same time, we expect to change
the classification of 928388 to high priority or critical. At this time all
customers should have removed the test version of the Windows time zone
update released under Knowledge Base article 924840.

so that is why i am confused. because it states it is an "option" now and
once outlook tools are completed it will be changed to high priority or
critical so i was wondering when MS is going to do that since so many of my
clients run outlook 2003 including myself and I do not want to do this
update until it becomes high priority.

Only Ms doesn't state when they will be putting it up as high priority since
the next set of updates don't come out till Feb 2007. Also if you notice
they changed the kb929120 to kb928388 which throws me off completly.

Bitman do you live in the usa and have done this update? or anyone else
here that lives in the usa and has done the optional update or are you all
waiting for it to become High Priority?

thanks

right now it is a software option only not a critical one

Robin, OT,

How do you switch between "robinb" [your first post] and "Robin" [This post
and your other follow ups in this thread?

Is there a reason someone would want to do this?
If I try to "find recent posts by this user" [Web viewer] will I get
different results between the two?

Just wondering?

On Topic: I'm just waiting till March 5th before I even think about it.

?:-)

sometimes I post from one computer- that has robinb
sometimes I post from another computer- that has robin
that is why you see me with two different names
depending on which computer i am on

also i did some checking and found this on a forum website

"Microsoft is saying that customers should wait and deploy the Outlook
Data Update tool and the OS DST 2007 patches at the same time"

seems they are updating this tool for outlook 2003 because it was having
problems- I get the impression it might be out in next month's patches.

if i remember i am going to fix all the computers to say "robinb"
that is my nickname anyway
but i will still sign with "robin"

I think Bitman (MVP) has already answered this one. Here is the extract I
think he was refering to.

Windows XP (SP2), Windows Server 2003, Windows Server SP1
Update available.

The Windows XP SP2 and Windows Server 2003 updates are available for
production deployment for all customers through the Microsoft Download Center
and Knowledge Base article 928388. The update will be available via Windows
Update, and WSUS on December 12, 2006. While this update is being offered as

update released under Knowledge Base article 924840.

Guess only MS has the answer as to exactly what day/date/year that will
happen. In the meantime, stay tuned.

Stu that is what i wrote in one of my posts to Bitman
seems the consensus is to wait for the next update because the one now
conflicts with Outlook 2003 and the next one will have a tool to fix Outlook
2003
robin

Yes, if any of your customers are using Outlook, there could be calendar
scheduling issues if the Windows XP update is done without the one for
Outlook, since these will interact for future dates between March 11th and
April 1st, so it's best to wait.

Since this isn't really an issue until March 11th rolls around, it doesn't
matter when these updates come as long as it's before that weekend. I suspect
they'll try to have them out A.S.A.P. to work out any bugs before March 11th
though.

I'll personally wait for the critical update, since I have no interest in
testing the update and just want the correction it provides.

Bitman

i totally agree to wait
btw you need to use the utility tool for windows 2000 and those using
windows xp sp1
that you can use now because there is no patch for it except this tool
robin

Joe at MS just informed me that hopefully next week during MS critial update
time- the patch for DST will be put in. They are testing the patch now.
