document that has no indents for paragraphs

I've recieved a document that has no paragrah indents, each line has
paragraph symbols at the end, making the document fill only the left side of
the page.
I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to highlight the whole document
and put an indent to the first line of each paragraph, but because of all the
paragraph symbols at the end of each line, it's indenting every line. Is
there a way for Word to determine and recorgnize each paragrah, or will I
just have to go through and erase all paragraph symbols that don't belong by
hand?

Thanks, Sherry
