Document scanning to printer

I am looking for a few "Scan to Print" 11 X 17 solutions. Axis has a
product called the 70u "Network Document Server" that I am testing and
it seems to be a good solution to replace our leased MFP's. These all
in one copier/scanner/printer are great but we want to get away from
the MFP concept.

Solution #1: Fujitsu Fi 5750 scanner connects to the 70u via a USB
connection. The scan to destinations (send to printer via IP, send to
email and send to folder) are created on a computer browsing into the
70u's web interface. I have tested this and it works fine. The user
will be able to handle this procedure just a little different from
going to a MFP for copies.

I am still looking for a couple of alternates that are not MFP's that
will scan to print. Ricoh has a scanner that connects directly to a
printer but it is not an 11 X 17 scanner/printer. HP has the 9250c
Digital Sender that is also not 11 X 17. Fujitsu has the Fi 6010 and
it is not 11 X 17.

Any possible solutions would be appreciated.

I haven't tried this, but I believe that all of the Epson
scanners include a program that directs output to a printer
without going through an intermediate first. They refer to
the program as a "copy utility".

To use it you'd have to have a computer in the loop as well
as the scanner and printer, but the computer can presumably
be one that you've taken out of service for age reasons, or
one that does other tasks besides service the scanner. I
don't think the user needs to interact with the computer,
just push a button on the scanner.

There is also Irfanview.
http://www.irfanview.com/

Irfanview has a function called Copy Shop. What it does is drive the
scanner and sends the scanned image directly to the printer.

Irfanview is freeware.

I've used Irfanview for many years but never knew it could do that.

Thanks.

The Current Versions can. The older Versions did not have that option.
I think Irfanview is up to about 4.23 now.

I need to update, I have Version 4.22 on this computer.

We ended up going with the Fujitsu fi-6010. As for the 11X17 needs, we
will direct our users to our Print Services division who have the
equipment to handle 11X17. The Fujitsu fi-6010 is a network scanner
that has a "print" job function. You simply enter the path to the
network printer on the fi6010 and scan your hard copy and press print.
It works great. The issue now is how do we tell the fi6010 that we
want the output stapled. We bought the stapler/stacker option for our
network printer. This is normally handled through a windows print
driver, but we are not using a computer for any of the scan job
functions.

Well you got part of the problem solved.

Check in the manual of the Network printer to see if the command to staple
is a stand alone command.

The solution to the "scan to print" with a staple finish was resolved
by adding a printer on the print server then adding it to the list of
printers on the fujitsu. The additional printer driver is configured
with the output with staple option. We did find out that the maximum
pages that could be stapled was 15.
In trying to match (or come close) to what a xerox workcentre MFP
could do is a challenge. The scan to print on the fujitsu works at
half the speed of the xerox machine. I am still looking for a new
solution if anybody has an idea. Again, we do not want an MFP. We want
a stand alone scanner with the job functions on the scanner to allow,
scan to print, scan to email, scan to ftp and scan to fax server
without any computer attached to the scanner. I believe Ricoh has
something like this that works with a Ricoh printer attached to the
scanner. This is not an MFP which is what the boss likes :)
