Document icons have changed

I am running Office 2007 with Vista Home Premium. Two days ago the icons for
my saved documents changed to what looks like a document with a very small W
in the lower right hand corner.

Does anyone have any idea on how to make all of my icons show the same?
Having two different icons for saved documents is driving me nuts.

The icons for Word 2007 documents and templates are different from the
corresponding files saved in the older file formats.

I have been using Office 2007 since 2007 and the icons just changed in the
last couple of days. I don't think that makes the other files older formats.
This is the only program I've ever used for saving documents like this. I
wish there was a way to attach a photo to this I could show you the different
icons.

In Windows Explorer (in XP), my .doc files have W's in the upper left corner
of the icon, .docx have a smaller W near the upper left corner, and .wbk
(backup) files have a smaller W near the lower right. Turn the ability to
see extensions in Windows Explorer so you can check this out. Perhaps you
recently changed the settings so Word is now creating backups?

Pam

I have file extensions turned on all the time and all of my documents are .docx documents. There are no backups being saved. I simply have different icons now for the last four documents in that folder that were saved. In Vista there are Ws in the upper left corner of the normal icon I used to have. Now the icons look just like a document page and the W is very small in the lower right corner. There have been no changes in either Office or Windows Explorer to account for this that I know of.
