docfile corrupted - what do I do?

I was creating a report in the report wizard and got an error message that
said "Automtation Error The docfile has been corrupted." The wizard would
not finish the report.

I also tried to create the report in design view, where I was able to design
and run it. But I could not save it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

sail,
Pretty hard to say.
Did the wizard create a report file (even though it crashed), that you later tried to
manually finish designing?

You could try Compact and Repair Database, and try that same report again, but if no
luck then I'd
delete that crashed report and start all over... (with a slightly different report Name
just to be safe).

** You could save some work by copying and pasting your report controls layout from old
to new, and the same with any module code you might have had.
BUT...
if ANY further weirdness... delete all and start over fresh. (I would suggest manual
design over Wizard)

Hi Al,
The wizard did not create a report file. It would not finish the process.

I deleted the old report and have tried designing the report manually and
can not save it - either with the old or new name. Actually, I can not save
any new reports at all.

I've done the compact & repair several times, and like our trusty helpdesk
always recommends, rebooted the computer a couple of times.

Other thoughts...
Thanks

sail,
Can you print/preview existing (previously working) reports?
Just to be sure, make sure you have a Default Printer defined properly... worth a
shot...

Otherwise, we'll have to assume a corrupted database. The most common solution is to
create a new empty database, (different name) and Import all your objects to it.

Thanks Al,

I think I'm going to have to rebuild. I can print/preview existing reports,
but I can not save changes.

Give the Import I suggested first... can't hurt.
Create new DB, Import all your objects, and test.
