.......I would be wary of even trying to save data from the old drive.

There are just two things she really wanted not to lose, pictures and
music. I've scanned her copies while here in my box and it's not finding
anything, probably just dormant while not running, but I do plan on
trying to be careful about getting the stuff back on her drive. It was
actually a DVD that retored her drive, not a CD as I wrote. I don't even
want to save her or her kids bookmarks from their browsing.

I made two clones of my drive before even looking at her drive. I like
my Win 2000 setup so much I'd cry if I lost it due to my own stupidity.

......Good luck, congrats on getting it reinstalled, and let us know how
it turns out!

Thank you, and thank you again for all the over the shoulder efforts
you've supplied, I'm not sure this all would be working out without your
help.

When the rebuild started it asked me to initially set up its users, I've
made two, one for her and another for whoever, but since I'm a sort of
loner, I've never created a second user for a system before. Her's right
now is admin, the second may be too, but we'll get that fixed before
she's allowed to solo. Glen mentioned the limiting possibilities I can
place on selected users with home or pro XP, Something will be happening.

Thanks for providing the links! I'll be running naked for a few minutes
and it's reassuring to know where I'm going first. Security Essentials
is chomping at the bit ready to update and run, so the goal is to let it
find, in as short a route as it can, where it needs to be to do so.
