If you enter your e-mail address when you post to this
site you will immediately get deluged with bogus e-mails
purporting to be from Microsoft, and containing the worm
called W32.Swen@mm or Worm.Automat.AHB. I entered two of
my 5 e-mail aliases on this chat forum yesterday and
within a couple of hours the e-mails started coming to
those two addresses. I have had over two dozen of them in
less than 12 hours. Fortunately, Norton detects them
immediately. They are still coming, but have slowed down.

Someone is evidently mining e-mail addresses from this web
site.

No they are not!

W32.Swen.A@mm is a mass-mailing worm that uses its own SMTP engine to spread
itself. It attempts to spread through file-sharing networks, such as KaZaA
and IRC, and attempts to kill antivirus and personal firewall programs
running on a computer.

Well, I don't use Kazaa or IRC.

It is far too much of a coincidence for me. I see a lot
of users on this board posting mesaging indicating that
they are getting the same e-mails.

It most certainly IS the usenet where "they" are getting email addresses. Go
into your news server properties and disguise your POP3 email address
wherever it might appear.
