Do I need "wbem" in PATH statement?

XP Pro/SP2. Solo machine. Internet via home cable modem.

In my PATH statement I have an entry for "wbem"
%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;

I am no wiser after reading this info:

What is wbem? Is wbem something which MS needs me to have in order
to run some part of Windows?

Can I safely remove wbem from the path statement?

WBEM is an important component, and it should be in the Path variable.

WMI terms and concepts:

Note that _MOST_ of the built-in components in Windows XP require WMI /
WBEM.

You may encounter problems if you remove WBEM folder from the PATH.
