Do I need 64bit Win XP for a dual core 64 bit CPU?

I didn't even think of it when I ordered my new system. I currently hav
the same copy of windows xp home I've had all along. Do I need to get 6
bit XP professional for my Athlon 64 X2 dual core processor to work? I'
hate to have to have to buy a retail copy.. argh

your fine, you can put a 32 bit on a 64 bit machine, but you not can not put
a 64 bit on a 32 bit machine

If you want your hardware to run in 64-bit mode then, yes, you need
the 64-bit version of the OS.

You can use the 32-bit version, since your hardware will run 32-bit
software. But you'll get none of the benefits of 64-bit hardware if
you do that.

No, and if you did switch, you will need to find 64bit drivers for all
the hardware you install.
